T Shirt Evangelism
Only God could do it. There was only one perfect sacrifice and only God could send Him. Jesus would become the atoning sacrifice for us; He would die for our sins. Without question, the greatest story ever told surrounds the greatest gift ever given.
Before He returned to Heaven, Jesus left us with one simple task: Share the story with as many as are willing to hear.
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. ~Mark 16:15
As disciples, we want to share what we have found, but opportunities are limited. Cynical attitudes, fear of man, and a society that is fast moving away from Christianity can cause us to shrink back. Often, it seems more peaceable to simply remain quiet rather than start an argument. The Bible is clear that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Yet, how can they call on one in whom they haven't believed? And how can they believe in one whom they have never hear of? And how can they hear unless someone shares? Simply put, people need to hear what was done for them.
Shirt Evangelism Changes Everything
Disciples want to share and people need to hear it, but what can be done? Many have tried door-to-door and street witnessing, but that isn't for the timid (and arguably not widely successful). Others choose to let the people come to them. They set the table in the church and wait for people who are looking for God. Certainly this reduces the pressure, but again, its success in a "post Christian" society is questionable. What if there was a way to blend the two? What if there was a way for people to strike up the conversation with you instead of you trying to start the conversation with them?
The idea behind T shirt Evangelism is simple
Get the other guy to start the conversation! Sharing your faith becomes much easier when someone asks you about it. and what was a potentially uncomfortable situation is now much easier. How can someone be defensive when they started the conversation? Barriers are broken down and opportunities present themselves in a simple and easy conversation.
Here's how it works
The process begins with a shirt that isn't obviously "Christian" in nature; that is, it doesn't have any scripture references on it. Why is this important? Because when you wear most Christian T Shirts, the shirt becomes the witness on your behalf. The very fact that you are wearing an obviously Christian shirt proclaims to the world "I am a Christian". But what if the shirt didn't appear to be a Christian shirt? What if it were bold and didn't have any scripture references on it? What if it were specifically designed to start a conversation? What might happen when someone sees the shirt, but doesn't understand it? Simple... they ask! And now the door to share your faith is open. You can share as much or as little as is beneficial at the time. Regardless, you are now sharing the story of Jesus without anyone feeling threatened. If they aren't open to hearing the message, they normally say something like "oh, cool" and walk off, but some are interested and they will listen to the Good News.
How can I find out what my shirt means?
The Fear God line is broken into 3 stages. Stage 1 shirts are mild, and contain mostly subliminal messages. Stage 3 shirts are a bit bolder and some even have scriptures one them. Stage 5 shirts are the boldest of the line and don't contain scripture references (although they are right out of the pages of the Bible). Just click on the stage above and then click on your shirt to learn about the message that it contains and how it can be used as a witnessing tool.
I like the shirt but I'm not a Christian
Lots of people wear our shirts just because they are retro and cool. Some people wear them "ironically" and others wear them in protest (the number of professing satanists that buy our shirts has always surprised me). In the end, the message is God's message to mankind, and His word always accomplishes its goal... whether it is used as a witnessing tool or not.
